Kawartha Classic

For the past 17 years we have organized the Kawartha Lakes Classic in support of A Place Called Home’s 19 bed emergency homeless shelter. Many of you have participated in our past events helping us to raise significant funds for the homeless shelter. Thank you!

In Support of A Place Called Home

The proceeds raised from this event help the most vulnerable people in our community. We thank you for your past registration and donations.

A Place Called Home (APCH) is a charitable, non-profit organization that has been providing 24/7 support services to the homeless, and those at risk of becoming homeless, for over 25 years in the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County.

APCH operates a 19-bed emergency shelter for youths, adults, couples and families providing shelter along with meals, laundry facilities and the counselling needed to find permanent solutions to their challenges.

Currently, in order to meet COVID-19 requirements, the shelter residents are staying in motels.

In order to rebuild the shelter with physically separate bedrooms, as well as create an accessible shelter and create five new affordable transitional/supportive rental units, APCH is moving forward with the redevelopment of its own site at 64 Lindsay Street South.

APCH has already secured major capital funding from the provincial government and the City of Kawartha Lakes. Further capital fundraising is needed and APCH has embarked on a substantial campaign to raise $1.5 million.

A Meaningful Contribution Option

Groups or individuals who are able to raise $5,500 to furnish a room will be given the option of a permanent plaque to be placed in our new shelter.

This amount will completely furnish a room in our emergency shelter and cover the costs of all the items listed below:

Unfortunately, again this year, our event has been impacted by the restrictions due to COVID-19.
We will not be offering a physical group ride and lunch experience as in the past.
We will, however, encourage individuals and teams to donate and/ or fundraise to support APCH.
We will offer the following:

Register & Fundraise

You have the opportunity to register and set up a fundraising page to support your involvement. We encourage participants to, SAFELY cycle, walk, run, kayak, horseback ride or swim outdoors following government mandated rules.

No Registration Fees

There is no registration fee to participate in this year's event, instead we are encouraging donations to A Place Called Home.

Participant Waiver

Anyone participating in an activity will be required to sign a waiver when they register. Those who wish to donate only do not need to register or sign a waiver.

Easy Fundraising

All you have to do is create a pledge page and circulate it to friends and family. Asking people for money isn't something that comes naturally to most people, we understand. We have also put together a donation letter that you can cut and paste into an email to make things easier.
